About Our
Garden Our community garden has dozens of participants from the Park Slope neighborhood and other parts of Brooklyn. We welcome new members -- and not just experienced gardeners. In fact, you don't have to know anything about gardening to join. Our members range from master gardeners to absolute beginners (learning from others is part of the fun of community gardening). And a few of us do very little actual gardening, but support the organization in other ways, including administration and communications work. In short, it's a community garden. You can get involved because you like gardening, or community. Or both. Garden entrances are located on Warren Street and St. Mark's Avenue, between Fourth and Fifth Avenues. We're just a few blocks south of the area's biggest landmark, the HSBC clocktower. Click to see a map of the neighborhood from the Council on the Environment of New York City's Community Garden Locator. Membership is open to anyone who pays an annual fee of $10 to $25, with rates depending on your level of membership and ability to pay. We encourage everyone to pay as much as they can afford. If you can't afford to join, please contact the garden administrator at [email protected] As of March 11th 2004, we have been under the ownership of Brooklyn-Queens Land Trust (BQLT), a corporation that is self-run by representatives from each of its 62 member gardens across the two boroughs. This organization was created with the assistance of the Trust for Public Land, a non-profit organization dedicated to 'conserving land for people.' | |
