Warren-Saint Marks Community Garden | Who We Are
The membership of the Warren-Saint Marks Community Garden is primarily made up of people who currently live within a few blocks of the garden, or who once did. People join because they want to support the garden, or walk around it, or to sit in it on hot summer days, or to use the composters, or to get to know neighbors, or to get hands dirty maintaining the plants, or to help build benches, or to have a vegetable plot, or to listen to the mockingbirds who live here, or to commune with the insects. Everyone has a different reason.
If you’re not a member, you’re welcome to come in whenever the gates are open. If you’d like to use the garden at other times, the best way is to become a member. See HOW DO I JOIN, and the REGISTRATION form and come to a GARDEN DAY for an orientation.
The running and maintenance of the garden is entirely by volunteers, and we welcome your participation. If you’d like to help work in the garden, just put on something that can get dirty, come to a GARDEN DAY, and introduce yourself. See the list of GARDEN DAYS for dates.
The garden has been under the stewardship of the Trust for Public Lands, and is in the process of transitioning to the Brooklyn Queens Land Trust. We are also affiliated with Greenthumb.
