Upcoming Vote on Fostering Chickens in the Garden this Winter

Dear Gardeners,

We covered a lot of ground at the membership meeting during our October 13 Garden Day, including our new organization into work teams and whether, given the resounding support from our chicken survey, we should foster hens again, or perhaps consider getting our own small flock.

Fostering is relatively easy—a limited-time commitment that rewards us with the company of the hens and a few eggs.

So we are holding a garden vote on whether we should foster six hens from November through April.

We have ballots in the shed or you can download this PDF Ballot. Each membership (individual, household or institutional) gets one vote. Please drop the completed ballots in the silver ballot box in the shed during the voting period, which starts Friday, Oct. 25, and ends Sunday, Oct. 27, at 5 P.M.

For those who can’t manage the paper ballot, you can email your vote, or call it in, at 718-789-7779.

We will announced the results on Tuesday, Oct. 29th, via email, on our web site, and with a posting on the bulletin boards on each side of the garden.

Thanks,
Andrea Kannapell
