Garden Play Day & Weed Workshop, this Sunday, August 14th

Yes, its a Garden “Play Day”, not a Work Day, this Sunday, August 14th. How can it be called work when its so much fun? Seriously, what’s not to love about spending an hour or two in our lush and lovely community garden?

Got Goutweed? Or Mr. Hairy Galingosa? Or perhaps you only know one kind of weed and its not in our garden. If you answered yes to any of the previous questions, you definitely need to attend the Weed Workshop this Sunday in the garden.

WEED WORKSHOP, conducted by Mical Moser

1) Identify some weeds, talk about how a gardener learns to identify plants
2) talk about the different functions of a plant (beauty, taste, food for animals, helpful to soil, shade provider) and how to make assessments about when it’s appropriate to remove one plant in favor of another.
3) discuss situations when we can use weeds to our advantage, and when it’s essential to get rid of a plant.

Get your hands in the soil! Clean up the community plots and surrounding areas in the garden. Or, if you don’t want to mess up your “mani” you can just hang out and do some watering. JUST GET INVOLVED!
